Matthew Simpson was raised in Spotsylvania County.  He graduated from Chancellor High School and from Mary Washington University with a B.A. in Religious Studies.  During school he did mission work teaching English in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and working with the poor in Luang Phrabang, Laos.  He has worked at Continental Airlines for five years as an international flight attendant.  During his mid-twenties he began studying Objectivism, and adopted Libertarian ideas.  He has attended Conferences hosted by the Ludwig Von Mises Institute and is a subscriber to the Austrian School of Economics which advocates for Free Markets.  He is close to his family, which includes is mother Marianne and sister Natalie.  He believes the free market ideals of his father who passed away in 2008.  At 29, Matthew Simpson now hopes to represent Virginia’s 54th district to work to reduce government’s role in Virginian’s personal lives and defend our right to keep our hard-earned money.
