Education:
BA in English Lit from Univ of Calif - Berkeley
MA in Early Childhood Education from Calif. State Univ at Northridge
Ph.D. in clinical psychology from International University - Los Angeles,
CA
MA in Special Education - George Mason Univ - VA - Fairfax, Virginia
 
Career
Founded and directed a preschool, and a school for families with preschool children
having special needs.
Developed a private practice as Marriage, Family, and Child Counselor, in which I also
supervised interning counselors.
Chair of Board of Directors of Assoc to Aid Victims of Domestic Violence
Expanded and led services delivered to victims of domestic violence
Woman of the Year 1992 - for community service

Developed an educational drop-in child care center in a One Stop Career Center. Also
developed and delivered family education regarding best practices for meeting needs
of children.
Developed an outgrowth of the drop-in child care center to teach positive methods of
nurturing child growth and development to adult students participating in a program for
learning English as a second (and sometimes third) language. Trained teachers of the
ESOL (English for Students of Other Languages) students to continue the program.
Managed and delivered a grant to encourage literacy by bringing books into the homes
of families with infants and pre-school aged children, modeling reading aloud, and
loaning appropriate books for families to read between visits.
The above 3 programs occurred over a 3 year span as part of a policy of coordination
between the school district and other local agencies serving family needs.
Taught reading skills to juvenile offenders in a detention center.
 
Career in Virginia
Taught at Phillips Programs in Annandale.
Interned for a George Mason-at-Fairfax pilot program for college-aged students with
moderate to severe learning and/or emotional disabilities.
 
My joys in life: my husband, laughing and talking and playing with family, my work, life
as vagabond, reading, writing, hiking, getting my feet wet in oceans, lakes, streams, no
matter how cold
